Progynist Marks 16 Days of Activism by Empowering Communities to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls

Progynist proudly celebrated the 16 Days of Activism on December 11 and 12, in line with this year’s global theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls,” in collaboration with Crossroads Canada.

In recognition of the growing risks women and girls face in digital spaces, Progynist organized a series of engaging workshops and panel discussions with community members. On the first day, the focus was on young women and girls, addressing digital and cyber violence against women. The sessions highlighted how technology and the internet can create opportunities for perpetrators to harm women and girls, while also equipping participants with practical knowledge on prevention, self-protection, and digital safety.

The sessions also created space for elders and community leaders to actively engage and pledge their commitment to protecting young girls from digital violence moving forward, reinforcing shared responsibility and community ownership of the issue.

On the second day, the discussions centered on financially disadvantaged women, focusing on how to safely and effectively use digital banking tools to strengthen financial inclusion and resilience. Participants gained practical insights into navigating digital financial services with confidence and security.

It was a powerful and inspiring two days of learning, dialogue, and solidarity in the fight against digital violence. Progynist sincerely appreciates the generous support of Crossroads Canada in making this event possible and in supporting communities to better understand and respond to digital challenges.
